Terminator Genisys

I loved the first movie, liked the second, and still get stomach aches when thinking about the third and the fourth instalments in the series.

So needless to say, I was a bit sceptical about yet another Terminator movie with a `slightly older` Arnie in the main role...

The first 20 minutes of the movie feel like they could fit the original as an extended version of the movie, with the whole how it came to be that the T-800 and Kyle Reese ended up in 1984.  But then time started changing, as Arnie is awaiting his younger, older self and a T-1000 is awaiting Kyle to arrive.  This is due to the timeline being changed as John Connor was attacked by a Terminator the moment Kyle entered the temporal nexus.

The movie jumps to events from the previous movies, but moving instead of to 1997 from the 4th movie to 2017 instead, as that would become the moment Skynet would launch, and Sarah, Kyle and the T-800 try to prevent this from happening.  But then future version John Connor turns up, having been assimilated by Skynet in the future and sent back in the past to not becoming the last hope of humanity, but the last hope of Skynet instead.

All in all, this is an enjoyable flick with some funny and well executed tie-ins to the original films, Arnie is still doing what he does best, namely playing an emotionless machine, but there is one thing that kind of bothered me.  The current generation Sarah Connor (hello, Mother of Dragons) and Kyle Reese don`t have that raw `chemistry` and feel to them like the original versions, back then portrayed by Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn (though I`m kind of a Biehn addept, his Hicks was for me one of the most awesome characters in my youth).
